In a nutshell: The UK drinks industry has made a major commitment to tackling drug misuse by providing increased funding for the alcohol education charity Drinkaware. Fifty alcohol related companies have committed more than £5 million per year for the next three years to support Drinkaware and its work. With the help of this continued funding Drinkaware can continue to effect the cultural change necessary to reduce the harm caused by alcohol misuse.

In a nutshell: This article looks at testing a student engagement model for developing and implementing alcohol intervention strategies.   The model used an innovative course successfully involving both students and the community in addressing local alcohol issues.   Students were able to embrace the concept of evidence-based strategies, whilst at the same time providing valuable insights and fresh ways of thinking.
